Rule of Law

Democracy International has extensive experience evaluating and designing rule of law programs throughout the world. We offer a range of rule-of-law development services, including expertise in justice-sector institutions, legal frameworks, court and case management, law enforcement, legal training and professional development, and increasing legal access and advocacy. We have practical experience with the justice sector in developed and developing countries.

In addition, we have worked on legal issues and with the justice sector in the U.S. and abroad for nearly three decades. In the 1980s DI principal Eric Bjornlund practiced corporate and international law at Ropes and Gray in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the nation’s largest law firms. He worked on international human rights cases in Namibia and on behalf of Haitian refugees.
