Kris Thorpe, Program Officer
Kris Thorpe is a Program Officer at Democracy International where she provides logistical, administrative, and technical support for overseas programs and home office and business development operations. She recently completed a Master of Public Policy in International Development at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute at Georgetown University. While at Georgetown, she served as the Managing Editor of the Georgetown Public Policy Review. As a graduate student, Ms. Thorpe conducted original empirical research examining the relationship between gender inequality and development policy for her master’s thesis, Minding the Gap: Determinants of Global Gender Inequality, a Cross-sectional and Longitudinal Study. Prior to joining DI, she served as an Assistant Policy Officer at the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium in the summer of 2009. Additionally, Ms. Thorpe has worked as a personal banker in the private sector and as a research assistant at Georgetown University and the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars.
Ms. Thorpe earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles where she concentrated in political science. She is proficient in Spanish.
