Min Zaw Oo, Director of Research

Min Zaw Oo is Democracy International's Director of Research in Afghanistan. He is an international development professional who has a strong research background with technical expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, data collection and analysis. He has written numerous research designs, including macro-comparative studies of
political systems and instabilities worldwide while at Center for Systemic Peace, where he supervised a study on worldwide election boycotts from 1945 to 2010. Mr. Oo was the principal author of both qualitative and quantitative research designs at Wise Strategic Communication (WSC) and studied 115 democratic transitions worldwide to complete a dissertation for his Ph.D. He is also familiar with USAID procedures and regulations having recently completed an M and E project to assess major USAID funded programs in southern Afghanistan. Among other things, Mr. Oo helped (WSC) expand its field network in Afghanistan from 10 provinces to all 34 provinces, including unsecured districts, within four months of his arrival. Mr. Oo has worked in
Afghanistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan.
