Project Description

In 2007 Democracy International conducted a broad study of the civil society sector and U.S. government-funded civil society programs in Romania since 1991. As USAID closed out its activities in Romania, a six-person DI team examined the overall effect of USAID assistance on civil society organizations and analyzed the impact of USAID assistance on service providers, civic watchdog and public policy organizations, and professional associations. The team documented best practices and lessons learned from all of the programs.
