Katie Calhoun

Program Officer I

Katie Calhoun is a Program Officer at Democracy International (DI), supporting Positive Pathways in Jamaica, the Parliamentary Support Program in Malawi, and the Electoral Law and Governance Institute for Africa on the Strengthening Electoral Accountability and Inclusivity Program in Kenya. Previously, Ms. Calhoun worked for DI as an Administration and Operations Officer where she led staff development and supported our media and communications department.

Ms. Calhoun is interested in human rights, mass atrocity prevention, and migration. She has presented her research on international sports diplomacy and historical hegemonic systems at the Center for Sociocultural Sport and Olympic Research and the American Historical Association Pacific Coast Branch conferences respectively.

Ms. Calhoun holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the School of International Service at American University, a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Fullerton, and studied film and video production at Orange Coast College and the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles. She speaks intermediate-level French.
